Land-for-jobs case: Tejashwi Yadav to appear before CBI on March 25
Sources said the CBI wants to question Tejashwi regarding the benami properties which were purchased using the money generated in the land-for-jobs scam. The RJD leader has been given assurances by the CBI that he will not be arrested, they added.Yadav was given notice to appear for questioning on Tuesday after he did not do so on March 4 and March 11, the CBI said previously. He did not appear for questioning on the third notice for Tuesday as well.
The development comes after the CBI questioned RJD supremo and Tejashwi’s father Lalu Yadav in connection with the case on March 7. A day earlier, Lalu's wife and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi was questioned by the central agency at her Patna residence.
Following the CBI examination, the Enforcement Directorate also swung into action in the case and carried out searches at the Delhi residence of Tejashwi Yadav on March 10, as part of the ongoing probe in the land-for-jobs scam. The ED also raided several other locations in Delhi, the National Capital Region, and Bihar, including the premises of Lalu Yadav’s three daughters and other RJD leaders.
The CBI has already filed a chargesheet in the case against Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi and 14 others under charges of criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. All of them were given bail in the case by a Delhi court on Wednesday.
