Mixing of Covishield, Covaxin shows better results, says ICMR
New Delhi: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Sunday said that mixing and matching of Covid vaccines, Covaxin and Covishield showed good results.
"Immunization with a combination of an adenovirus vector platform-based vaccine followed by inactivated whole virus vaccine was not only safe but also elicited better immunogenicity," revealed the study.
An earlier study by India's premier health agency said that Bharat Biotech's coronavirus vaccine Covaxine is effective against the Delta Plus variant SARS CoV2 virus. The study was, however, yet to be peer-reviewed.
Meanwhile, India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 50.68 Cr. Cumulatively, 50,68,10,492 vaccine doses have been administered through 58,51,292 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am Sunday, as per the latest COVID-19 bulletin by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Total 50.68 crores vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
