Gurugram: Gurugram's Sadar Bazaar Gurudwara offered space for Friday Namaz for the Muslim community following a row over the namaz site in Gurugram Sector 12.
Last week, right-wing Hindu groups organised Govardhan Puja at a designated namaz site in Gurugram Sector 12 to protest against Friday prayers in public spaces, members of the Muslim community.
A 21-member committee of the Muslim community decided to resolve the issue. They said that they are ready to take up spaces on rent for their prayers and sought the help of the district authorities for the same.
Amid the row, Sadar Bazaar Gurudwara has come forward to offer space to the Muslim community.
"It's 'Guru Ghar', open for all communities with no discrimination. There shouldn't be any politics here. Basement is now open for Muslim brothers who want to offer 'Jumme ki namaz'", Sherdil Singh Sidhu Gurudwara president told the news agency ANI.
"If there's an open space, Muslims should be allowed to offer namaz... and we shouldn't fight over such petty issues. People who were offering namaz in open sought administration's permission and those who had problem should have approached admin before attacking them", he said.
