NIRF Rankings 2021: IIT-Madras, IISc,  IIT-Bombay top list

New Delhi: Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday released the 6th edition of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), ranking of institutions of higher education, in various categories based on their performance on five broad categories of parameters. 

IIT- Madras ranked first and Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bengaluru, ranked second followed by IIT Bombay at the third spot in the overall NIRF India Rankings 2021.

IIT-Madras has been ranked No.1 in India in Overall and Engineering categories, and No. 2 in Research in NIRF Rankings 2021. IIT Bombay stood 3rd in Overall, Engineering and Research category NIRF.

Last year, IIT Madras retained 1st position in the overall ranking as well as in Engineering.

The ranking framework evaluates institutions on five broad generic groups of parameters, i.e. Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR)Research and Professional Practice (RP)Graduation Outcomes (GO)Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Perception (PR). Ranks are assigned based on the total sum of marks assigned for each of these five broad groups of parameters.
