"A cruel twist of fate has snatched away from us a prolific and talented actor, Puneeth Rajkumar. This was no age to go. The coming generations will remember him fondly for his works and wonderful personality. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti."
PM Modi shared a picture of him with Puneeth Rajkumar and his wife Ashwini. The picture was clicked when PM Modi was in Karnataka ahead of the assembly polls.

The actor took to Twitter and wrote, “Just had the glorious opportunity to meet our dynamic Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modiji along with my wife Ashwini. He gracefully accepted my book on Appaji (Dr Rajkumar: The person behind the personality) and conveyed his good wishes to our family.”
Puneeth, the 46-year-old Kannada star, fondly known as Appu and Powerstar among his fans, passed away following a cardiac arrest today. He was admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru after experiencing chest pains.
