Bengaluru: Sandalwood superstar Puneeth Rajkumar's last rites will be held on Sunday at Kanteerava studio premises, where his father Kannada icon, Varanata Dr. Rajkumar and mother, producer Parvathamma Rajkumar's memorial situated. 

Power star has breathed his last on Friday afternoon after a massive heart attack. His mortal remains at Kanteerava Indore stadium for public homage. Lakhs of people have paid homage to his mortal remains. 

Earlier government and family members have decided to perform last rites today itself soon after the arrival of Puneeth's daughter Drethi to Bengaluru. 

But keeping into consideration the tight schedule and lakhs of people are waiting to pay homage to their beloved actor, the state government, after consulting with family members of Puneeth Rajkumar,  has taken a decision to perform the last rites of the departed actor tomorrow. 

Puneeth Rajkumar's daughter has boarded  Bengaluru bound special flight. Since many people are still waiting to get a glimpse of their actor and late arrival of his daughter made the government to post pone the last rites of Puneeth Rajkumar. 

Chief Minister Basvaraj Bommai told reporters that, soon after arrival of Puneeth's daughter Drethi to Bengaluru, the procedure of last rites will take place. Drethi who studying in US, has arrived in Delhi by a special flight at 1.30 pm today, she will board to Bengaluru bound special flight, Mr. Bommai said. 

Chief Minister has requested the fans of superstar to maintain calm and peace. He thanked people for giving cooperation to the authorities concerned. Since Friday afternoon, lakhs of people have arrived to Bengaluru to pay homage to their beloved star. 

Cabinet ministers, Gopalaiah and Munirathna have taken in charge of last rites of departed Kannada superstar. After performing family rituals, Puneeth mortal will be buried just adjacent to his father's memorial.
