Punjab: Captain Amarinder Singh explores political alternative
The Meeting of Captain Amarinder Singh with BJP top leader raised speculation in the political circle that he would be exploring political alternatives in days to come.
New Delhi: Beleaguered former Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Delhi on Wednesday requesting him to repeal controversial agricultural laws.

However, Mr. Amarinder SIngh tweeted that after his meeting with Amit Shah, " I met Union Home Minister Amit Shahji in Delhi, discussed the prolonged farmers' agitation against farm laws and urged him to resolve the crisis urgently with the repeal of the laws and guarantee minimum support price, besides supporting Punjab in crop diversification".
His meeting with BJP top leader has taken place last evening. After the one-hour meeting, the Captain said he had discussed the farm laws at the core of an 11-month farmers' protest and ways to resolve the deadlock.
Mr. Singh met Amit Shah at 7 pm on Wednesday, discussed at length, sources said that both were discussed about ongoing political turmoil in Punjab. Mr. Amarinder Singh was asked to resign to CM post following growing discontent in ruling Congress in Punjab. Punjab Congress unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu was instrumental in ousting Amarinder Singh from the CM post, soon after he became Punjab Congress unit chief, Mr. Sidhu held a parallel meeting with party MLAs, and openly criticized the administration of Amarinder Singh. Humiliated by party high command allowing Mr. Sidhu to convene Congress legislature party meeting, Amarinder Singh has resigned to CM post on September 18 and he lambasted Sidhu.
Captain has termed that Mr. Sidhu is a threat to national security because of his proximity with Pakistan leaders.
Captain met Doval
On Thursday morning, Mr. Amarinder Singh met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, discussed national security issues since his state is sharing the border with Pakistan.
The Congress has reached out to Amarinder Singh after his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, amid signs of another big exit from the crisis-hit party. Senior Congress leaders Ambika Soni and Kamal Nath are trying to placate Mr Singh, sources say.
