Chennai: Rashmika Mandanna is set to star alongside South Superstar Thalapathy Vijay in his upcoming film, Thalapathy 66.

The film team announced this on Twitter on the occasion of Rashmika’s birthday on Wednesday. Lots of speculation was going on regarding the casting of the heroine in Vijay’s next movie. Names like Tamanna Bhatia and Kriti Sanon were doing the rounds, but it was Mandanna who sealed the deal.

Vijay's next movie is Thalapathy 66. Vamshi Paidipally is directing the movie, Vamshi has delivered hit movies in the Telugu cinema industry. He directed Mahrishi, Oopiri, and a few others. His last directed movie, Mahrishi, starring Telugu superstar Prince Mahesh Babu, was a super hit.

The Telugu film industry's famous production house, Sri Venkateshwara Creations, will be producing this bilingual film with Vijay. It will be the first Tamil movie from the production house. The producers are known for creating blockbuster hits in the Telugu industry.

The production house produced highly successful movies like Dil, Aarya, Bhadra, Bommarillu, Maharishi, Seethamma Vakitlo Srimalle Chettu, Mr. Perfect, Brindavanam, Paragu and others.

The film's producers on Twitter announced the film by releasing a picture of the actress. They penned, "Wishing the talented and gorgeous @iamRashmika a very Happy Birthday! "Welcome aboard, # Thalapathy66 @ actor Vijay @ director Vamshi # RashmikaJoinsThalapathy66."

Fans began to rejoice shortly after the revelation that the actress had been cast in the picture.
