Kabul: Danish Siddiqui, Indian photojournalist working for Reuters, was killed while covering a clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters near a border crossing with Pakistan.

According to a Reuters report, Afghan special forces had been fighting to retake the main market area of Spin Boldak when Danish Siddiqui and a senior Afghan officer were killed in what they described as Taliban crossfire.

In 2018, he became the first Indian alongside colleague Adnan Abidi to win the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography as part of the Photography staff of Reuters for documenting the Rohingya Refugee Crisis.
