Shark Tank India's Ashneer Grover resigns as BharatPe MD

Bengaluru: Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover, Founder and MD of digital payment firm BharatPe,  resigned from the board amid a boardroom battle.

Ashneer Grover said that from being celebrated as the face of Indian entrepreneurship he is now wasting his time fighting a long, lonely battle against his own investors and management.

He landed in controversy, after an audiotape of him, in which he is allegedly threatening and hurling abuses at a Kotak Mahindra Bank employee, was released. Ashneer has denied these accusations and has said that he will leave his company BharatPe, if investors give him INR 4,000 crore.

At the heights of the boardroom battle in January, Grover went on leave till March-end. He was to return on or before April 1st.

Grover with Shashwat Nakrani started the payment application BharatPe in 2018. He has a BTech degree in Civil engineering from IIT Delhi and later did MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.

BharatPe is India's leading merchant payment company. It helps merchants accept payments from customers for free. It also offers fintech products like loans.
