TMC & BJP MLAs scuffed in WB Assembly, 5 BJP MLAs suspended
“We have peacefully protested in the House, but TMC MLAs have provoked and tried to suppress our voice in the House and then they started abusing us and physically assaulted BJP MLAs. Without our fault, the Speaker suspended us”, Mr. Tigga told reporters.
Kolkata: Scuffle between TMC and BJP MLAs in the West Bengal Assembly on Monday over Mamata Banerjee led TMC government’s alleged involvement in the Birbhum massacre. Five BJP MLAs have been suspended from the House.
Pandemonium prevails in the House for a while when both party's MLAs are involved in pulling and pushing. Both parties have blamed each other that their MLAs having been beaten up in the House. BJP MLAs blamed ruling party MLAs have physically assaulted in the House. BJP MLA Manoj Tigga said that he has been assaulted by TMC MLAs inside.
“We have peacefully protested in the House, but TMC MLAs have provoked and tried to suppress our voice in the House and then they started abusing us and physically assaulted BJP MLAs. Without our fault, the Speaker suspended us”, Mr. Tigga told reporters.
Tigga said that he was allegedly manhandled during the incident. Also, TMC MLA Asit Majumdar claimed that he sustained injuries during the incident. After the suspension of five MLAs, BJP MLAs have staged protests outside the Assembly.
Following the incident, BJP MLAs in Bengal walked out from the assembly, saying that their MLAs were manhandled by TMC lawmakers on the floor while they demanded a discussion on Birbhum. The ruckus erupted in the Bengal assembly on the last day of the budget session.
BJP has condemned the incident, the incident assaulting party MLAs inside the House has proved that Chief Minister Mamatha Banerjee has no respect for parliamentary democracy and she encouraged political murders in the state, BJP criticized.
BJP National spokesperson Amit Malviya tweeted that, "Absolute pandemonium in the West Bengal Assembly. After Bengal Governor, TMC MLAs now assault BJP MLAs, including Chief Whip Manoj Tigga, as they were demanding a discussion on the Rampurhat massacre on the floor of the house. What is Mamata Banerjee trying to hide?", he questioned Mamata Banerjee's government.
