Twenty-Nine ministers inducted into Bommai cabinet, no DCM this time
Bengaluru: After much deliberation with party central leaders, the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has inducted 29 ministers into his Cabinet.
Newly inducted ministers have taken oath at Rajbhavan on Wednesday. Governor Tawarchand Gehlot administered oath of office and secrecy to the new council of ministers.
Party central leaders have not in favour to create deputy chief minister post in the Bommai cabinet as they had ‘imposed’ three DCMs in BSY cabinet in 2019. Central leaders have categorically told Mr. Bommai that the creation of DCM would create alternative power centers in the government and given a ‘free hand’ to the chief minister.
Sources also said that idea of creating a DCM post has dropped following pressure from B.S.Yediyurappa to induct his younger son B.Y. Vijayendra as DCM in the cabinet and plum portfolio.
