UP Nagar Nikay Chunav 2023 Voting Today: A total of 44,232 candidates are in the fray in the first phase and more than 2.40 crore people are eligible to vote.Uttar Pradesh Civic Polls 2023: As many as 37 districts in Uttar Pradesh went for the first phase of urban local body elections to elect 7,593 representatives, including 10 mayors and 820 corporators, on Thursday. According to the State Election Commission, 9.98 per cent of polling was recorded till 9 am.
Shortly after the polling started, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived at a booth in Gorakhpur to cast his vote. In a tweet, Adityanath said, “Voting is our right as well as our main duty. You must also vote to make your municipal body more empowered.”
A total of 44,232 candidates are in the fray in the first phase and more than 2.40 crore people are eligible to vote. Out of this, 1.12 crore voters are women and 1.27 crore are male voters. Polling will be held for 103 posts of nagar palika parishad chairperson and 2,740 nagar palika parishad members.
