US Senator's provoking tweet to assassinate Vladimir Putin
Lindsey Graham said in a tweet that the killing of Vladimir Putin would be a great service to the world and Russia.
Washington: The United States Senator from South Carolina Lindsey Graham has stirred up controversy over his call for 'taking out this guy' referring to the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The statement of Grahman came after he was shown video footage of the Ukrainian nuclear plant on fire after the shelling took place. The station director declares that the plant has been secured and there was no threat of nuclear disaster.
It did not take time for the remarks to come under sharp criticism from various quarters. Some people quickly called the statement as dangerous and stupid for the senator to tweet out an assassination threat.
Lindsey Graham said in a tweet that the killing of Vladimir Putin would be a great service to the world and Russia.
Graham said, "Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military? The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out. You would be doing your country - and the world - a great service".
Eliminating Putin would ensure a great life to Russians, said Lindsey.
"The only people who can fix this are the Russian people. Easy to say, hard to do. Unless you want to live in darkness for the rest of your life, be isolated from the rest of the world in abject poverty, and live in darkness you need to step up to the plate".
Putin has been cornered by global media for invading Ukraine. Europe and Western countries' leaders have extended their support to Ukraine with arms and ammunition. Also, the US imposed the harshest economic sanctions against Russia.
