Naveen’s body takes more space in plane: BJP MLA Arvind Bellad
The MLA has said that around 8 to 10 Indian students can be brought back to India instead of bringing the body of Naveen from war-ravaged Ukraine.
Hubballi: As the parents are fervently urging the government to bring to India the body of Naveen Gyanagoudar, 4th year medical student killed in Ukraine, BJP legislator of Hubballi-Dharwad West Arvind Bellad's comment has anguished the worried parents.
The MLA has said that around 8 to 10 Indian students can be brought back to India instead of bringing the body of Naveen from war-ravaged Ukraine. The MLA believes that due to space limitations, more people can be brought than one dead person.
Bellad was replying to the question posed by the journalists about the status of bringing the body of the student from Ukraine.
Bellad said that in place of bringing one dead body, around 8-10 living students can be brought to India.
The MLA said that while evacuating people who are alive itself is a tough challenge, in such a situation, bringing back a body from the war-torn country is certainly a big task.
The MLA however said that the Modi government is doing everything possible to bring back the stranded Indians.
It may be noted that a 22 years old resident of Haveri had gone to Ukraine for medicine, but died during an airstrike by Russian forces when he had gone to buy groceries.
The family, which is in shock after hearing the death of their son, is already appealing to the Modi government to bring back his body to India to perform his last rites.
In such a tragic time for the parents, MLA Bellad’s statement acts like rubbing salt the wounds. Naveen is the first student of India who lost his life in the war. According to the reports, thousands of Indians have still been stranded in Ukraine and are seeking help from the government in evacuating them.
