New Delhi: BJP MP Varun Gandhi and his mother, former union minister  Maneka Gandhi are excluded from the list of 30-star campaigners in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Maneka Gandhi is a member of the Lok Sabha from Sultanpur parliamentary constituency. And her son Varun Gandhi is third-term MP for Lok Sabha from the Pilibhit constituency. 

BJP released a list of 30 leaders who will campaign for the party's candidates in the first phase of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Election 2022
 Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Party chief JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, HM Amit Shah, CM Yogi Adityanath, party MP Hema Malini and others to campaign in the first phase.

Filing of nominations for the first phase UP elections for 58 seats in 11 districts have commenced January 14  under strict Covid guidelines. Nine seats are reserved for scheduled castes out of 58.

Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Uttar Pradesh from 10 February to 7 March 2022 in seven phases to elect all 403 members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on 10 March 2022.
