New Delhi: Finally the Uttarakhand police have registered the FIR against Jitender Narayan, alias Waseem Rizvi, who has given hate speeches at a religious conclave at Haridwar.

His speech went viral on social media, he has given open calls for genocide and the use of weapons against Muslims. FIR was filed four days after the event. The event was held from December 17 to 20. His hate speech receives a sharp reaction from all sectors including former military chiefs, activists and even international tennis legend Martina Navratilova.

Complaint filed by Trinamool Congress leader and RTI activist Saket Gokhale, he named Jitender Narayan, alias Waseem Rizvi. who was earlier the chairman of Shia Waqf board of Uttar Pradesh,FIR says that he has given derogatory and inflammatory statements against Islam.

Initially, Haridwar Superintendent of Police Swatantra Kumar Singh has ruled out registering an FIR against the accused when asked about alleged videos doing the rounds.

"Taking cognizance of the video that is going viral on social media for spreading hatred by giving provocative speeches against a particular religion, a case has been registered against Wasim Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Tyagi and others under Section 153A IPC in Kotwali Haridwar and legal proceedings are in progress," read a tweet by the Uttarakhand police.
