West Bengal bypolls: Mamata Banerjee to file nominations for Bhabanipur assembly
Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to file nominations for Bhabanipur Assembly by-election on September 10. Minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay who vacated the seat Bhabanipur Assembly seat will contest from the Khardaha Assembly constituency.
Mamata Banerjee at TMC workers' convention in Chetla, under Bhabanipur constituency, said, " Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, who won from Bhabanipur Assembly seat and later resigned, will contest from the Khardaha Assembly constituency. He had resigned for me. He will continue as a minister".
"I will file my nomination for the Bhabanipur Assembly by-election on September 10", she said. Also, in a veiled attack against BJP, the chief minister raised concern over poll violence in the state.

"Only God knows the way polls were held in 2021. The Centre lied, still couldn't beat me. There was a conspiracy behind the attack on me in Nandigram. 1000 goons from outside came to mislead about Bengal".
The Election Commission of India has decided to hold bypolls in West Bengal and Odisha on 30th September. Bhabanipur, Samserganj and Jangipur Assembly Constituencies in West Bengal will go to bypolls. Also, bypoll will be held in Pipli Assembly in Odisha on the date. The counting of votes will be held on October 3rd.
In the assembly elections held in May, Mamata Banerjee lost in a cliffhanger in Nandigram to the BJP's Suvendu Adhikari, her former protege. Suvendu Adhikari was declared winner by 1,956 votes. Suvendu Adhikari had vowed to quit politics if he didn't defeat Mamata Banerjee by more than 50,000 votes. Taunting his former mentor, Adhikari had also asked her to be ready with a letterhead that says: "Former chief minister".
