Kyiv: In war-torn Ukraine, an Indian national Chandan Jindal, a 22-year-old student at Vinnytsia's National Pyrogv Medical University, died of an ischemic stroke.

His family members were with him in Ukraine when he was admitted to Vinnytsia Emergency Hospital. Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, verified the news. He claimed Chandan died as a result of natural causes, not in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

According to reports, Chandan's father has written to the Indian authorities to make arrangements for the return of his son's body. 

Chandan is from the Punjabi city of Barnala. According to sources, Chandan suffered a stroke on February 2 and was admitted to the intensive care unit. On February 7, his father and uncle travelled to Ukraine after learning of his health condition.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that he has received some photos of medical student Naveen Shekaragowda Gyanagouder who was killed in Russian shelling at Kharkiv.

Chief Minister asserted that the state government is working with the Centre to secure the dead body of Naveen which was kept in the morgue at Kharkiv, Naveen went to procure groceries and exchange currency, while he was standing in a queue before the supermarket, Russian shelling hit him.
