BCCI invites application for NCA chief post
The Board Cricket Council of India (BCCI) has invited applications to lead National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, presently NCA is headed by former Indian captain Rahul Dravid.
Rahul Dravid was appointed as head of NCA in July 2019 for two years term. Dravid played a significant role in Indian cricket, even after his retirement, he actively involved in cricket-related activities, at present hie is the Coach for India U-19 and team A coach. His boys did an impressive performance in Sri Lanka. His two years contract has ended, Dravid is likely to apply for another two years extension. The last date for application is August 15, 2021.
Dravid will get an extension; however, BCCI has contemplating to use his service for Team India as head coach since present coach Ravi Shastri’s tenure will be ended in November 2021. Dravid is presently head coach of the India A team in a limited-overs match.
After the end of the tournament in Sri Lanka, he was asked if he wanted to be India's head coach on a long-term basis, but he was non-committal on to take a bigger responsibility in BCCI.
"The Head Cricket NCA will be overall responsible for running all Cricket Coaching programs at the NCA. He will be responsible for the preparation, development, and performance of all cricketers attending training at the Academy”, stated on the BCCI website.
"He will be singularly responsible for the development of emerging and youth cricketers within the male and female player development programs who are sent to the NCA”, BCCI said.
“The remit may include, but not limited to India A sides, under 23, Under 19, Under 16 team players, as well as state association players who train at the NCA and upgrade skills at the NCA,", BCCI stated about role and responsibilities of NCA chairperson.
