Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu storms her way into semifinals
Tokyo: Ace shuttler PV Sindhu booked a medal on Friday, defeating Japan's Akane Yamaguchi 21-13, 22-20 in a thrilling quarterfinal match. PV Sindhu moved to the semifinals of the Tokyo Olympics.
The 2016 Rio Olympics Bronze-medalist Sindhu and Yamaguchi, seeded fourth, played a highly thrilling, 56-minute match and it was the Indian who outplayed at the end to close it out.

The Indian came into the match with a 11-7 head-to-head count against the Japanese, whom she had last beaten at the All England Championship in March this year.
Sindhu will next take on the winner of the other quarterfinal between Thailand's Ratchanok Inthanon and Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying.
