While giving reaction to the hijab controversy, Mr. Eshwarappa stated that ‘Bhagwa Dhwaj' (saffron flag), may become the national flag of India sometime in the future. In 200 or 500 years Bhagwa Dhwaj may be hoisted in Red Port.

Continued tirade against Congress, the Chief Minister said, we (bjp) need not learn a lesson from Congress on how to respect the National flag. Congress has a history of showing disrespect to the National flag. The grand old party had ordered to kill six people in Hubballi, not allowed to hoist the national flag at Idga Maidan, CM mentioned.
Speaker Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri was too red-faced against Congress members ‘unruly’ behavior for waiving the National flag.
He ‘shouted’ at Congress members that “Waiving National flag here is showing disrespect to the flag. Don’t use the National flag for your selfish motive. It is a clear violation of the flag code. You should not use the National flag, we have a flag code to use the flag, it is not appropriate to use the flag here”, the Speaker said.
Speaker has given a ruling, rejecting the adjournment motion notice, and called the JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy to make a preliminary submission on the Hijab row.
CM defended Eshwarappa
After speaking to the media, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has defended his cabinet colleague, K.S.Eshwarappa. “Mr. Eshwarappa has given clarification on his statement about the National flag. There is no question asking his resignation. Congress has making unnecessary issues and trying to divert the attention of the public. Today it has shown grave disrespect to the National flag and violated the Flag Code”, Mr. Bommai said.
Eshwarappa defended his statement on Bhagwa Dhwaj
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Eshwarappa reiterated his statement of saffron flag. When I asked about using of a saffron flag in the colleges, I was told that ‘Bhagwa Dhwaj' (saffron flag), may become the national flag of India in near future”. What is wrong in it? Mr. Eshwarappa said.
Night-long Dharana
Meanwhile, Congress has decided to stage night-long dharna in both the Houses of the state legislature.
Mr. Siddaramaiah condemned the attitude of the ruling party and demanded the resignation of K.S.Eshwarappa and register of sedition charges against him for showing disrespect to the National flag.
Mr. Siddaramaiah alleged that RSS might have asked Eshwarappa to give such kind of statement. RSS doesn’t have respect towards the National flag. RSS has never hoisted the National flag at its headquarter in Nagpur. RSS has agenda to change the Constitution and change the National flag”, Mr. Siddaramaiah alleged.
He also blamed that the Speaker has shown partisan in the House.
