Soon after his controversial statement on ghar wapsi went viral and it caused much embarrassment to the party as well as the government. Mr. Surya unconditionally withdraws his statement.

Bangalore:  BJP MP from Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya has unconditionally withdrawn his controversial statement of calling Mutts to take initiatives on ‘ghar wapsi’( bringing people back to their mother religion).

Two days back Mr. Tejasvi Surya, delivering a speech at Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt on “Hindu revival in India”, gave a call to all Hindu religious institutions and Mutts to take initiates to bring back to the Hindu fold those who converted to other religions.

His speech video clips went viral on social media caused much embarrassment to the party as well as the Narendra Modi government.

Mr. Surya tweeted that "At a program held in Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt two days ago, I spoke on the subject of 'Hindu Revival in Bharat'. Certain statements from my speech has regrettably created an avoidable controversy. I therefore unconditionally withdraw the statements,"

Mr. Suryva, BJP National Youth President hailed the Karnataka Right To Freedom of Religion Bill, (anti-conversion bill) of the Karnataka government, urged the Mutts, temples and religious institutions to take initiatives to bring back those who left their mother religion, it also requested the Mutts to set an annual goal on this regard. Those who converted to other religions must be brought back to their mother religion on priority. It was the only possible solution, he said.

"Those people who have left their mother religion and have for various socio-political, economic reasons over the course of India's history, those who have gone out of the Hindu fold, must be brought back in whole, brought back into the Hindu faith, brought back to the mother faith," Mr. Surya asserted, his speech has applauded by the pontiff of Udupi Mutts.
