Mahant Narendra Giri death case: FIR filed against disciple Anand Giri

Prayagraj: President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri reportedly died by suicide on Monday. He was found dead at his Baghambari Math located residence.

News agency ANI reported that an FIR has been registered against his disciple Anand Giri under IPC Section 306 (Abetment of suicide). The FIR has been registered on the basis of the complaint filed by another disciple Amar Giri Pawan Maharaj.

Devendra Singh Vice President, Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, said, "The matter should be given to CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and should be investigated fairly".

Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness at the incident. “The death of Akhara Parishad President Shri Narendra Giri ji is extremely sad. While devoted to spiritual traditions, he played a big role in connecting many streams of Sant Samaj together," he said.

Expressing shock over the death of Mahant Narendra Giri, UP deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, said, "I met him yesterday and took his blessings. He was very happy but today I got to know that he died by suicide which made me sad and shocked. We'll take all the necessary steps to find out the exact cause of the death".

ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said the Police received information that the President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri died by suicide. The disciples told the police that around 3-4 pm, they broke the door which was locked from inside and found him hanging.

The body will be sent for post mortem today. and no arrest has been made as of now.
