India extends 2.5 billion US dollars credit to Sri Lanka since January
Also, a consignment of 40,000 MT of diesel under Indian assistance through a Line of Credit of 500 mn US Dollar was handed over by High Commissioner to Hon'ble Energy Minister Gamini Lokuge in Colombo on Saturday.

New Delhi: India's assistance to crisis-hit Sri Lanka is appreciated by the people of the island nation, said Gopal Baglay, India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.
"India has responded to urgent requests from Sri Lanka with promptness. Since January this year, support from India to Sri Lanka exceeds US dollars 2.5 billion", Gopal Baglay told news agency ANI.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended a currency swap of US dollars 400 million, and deferred payments owed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka owed RBI under the Asian Clearance Union worth several hundred million dollars.
