Indian students kept ‘captive’ by Ukraine forces: Putin
Russian allegations came after India requested Russia for safe passage of its students who were stranded at Kharkiv. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Russian President Putin requesting him to allow safe passage of Indians from Kharkiv.
Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin alleged that hundreds of foreign students Including Indians were being kept hostage by Ukraine forces in Kharkiv.
Echoing allegations of Russian Defence Minister, Mr. Putin alleged that Ukraine’s neo-Nazis not allowing foreign students to leave the country. They remain hostage in a train station in Kharkiv, he told while addressing the Security Council of Russia.
Russian allegations came after India requested Russia for safe passage of its students who were stranded at Kharkiv. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Russian President Putin requesting him to allow safe passage of Indians from Kharkiv.
However, Russia alleged that nearly 3179 Indian citizens were held prisoner in Ukraine. All students have been kept as hostage at the nearest Railway station. Most of them are still in Railway station including 576 people in Sumy. Ukraine forces have fired at Chinese students in Kharkiv, Mr. Putin alleged.
Russian President came down heavily on western forces for making a false narrative against Russia.
Kharkiv, the second-largest city of Ukraine was the worst hit by Russian attacks. In a tragic incident, Indian student Naveen was killed in a shelling attack of Russia on Tuesday.
But Indian authorities have denied Russian allegation. Indian Foreign Affairs spokesperson said no Indian citizens or students were kept hostage in Kharkiv. India has issued emergency advisory to its students to leave the Kharkiv as early as possible.
