Peace talks failed because Ukraine's needs are not yet achieved, said Ukraine’s presidential advisor, Mykhailo Podolyak.
Belarus: The second round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine has failed following Russia has refused to cease-fire agreement and withdrawal of its troops from war-hit Ukraine.
Peace talks failed because Ukraine's needs are not yet achieved, said Ukraine’s presidential advisor, Mykhailo Podolyak.
Peace talks held in the Brest region of Belarus for the second round of talks in four days.
"The second round of negotiations is over. Unfortunately, the results Ukraine needs are not yet achieved," Ukraine's presidential adviser, Mykhailo Podolyak, tweeted following the meeting.
However, Russia has struck its stand that any peace agreement with Ukraine achieved only Ukraine forces let down its arms. Russia has also signaled it wants to discuss Ukraine if it adopts a stand of neutral status and drops its desire to join North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO)
In the midst of peace talks, Russian missiles hit the many parts of Ukraine and it has captured Kherson, the southern city of Ukraine, and continued rocket attacks on Kharkiv and Kyiv.
On the other hand during peace talks, Ukraine insisted on an immediate cease-fire and Russia withdraw its forces from Ukraine.
During a briefing to foreign journalists, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia is ready to negotiate but on conditions.
Meanwhile, Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is ready to meet and talk directly with Putin and repeated his calls for a "no-fly" zone over Ukraine immediately, saying it would act as a deterrent.
In an earlier statement posted on Facebook, Zelenskyy said, "We are a nation that broke the enemy's plans in a week" and praised his military forces and Ukrainian civilians who have taken up arms to defend the country.
