Power-sharing formula in Chhattisgarh haunts Congress high command
Congress is busy with firefighting both in Punjab and Chhattisgarh. After controversial statements of two advisors of Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, now party is facing dissent voice in Chhattisgarh unit.
Chhattisgarh Health minister T.S. Singh Deo is demanding top post, demanding rotational chief ministership. However, Congress's high command has not yet decided to replace incumbent Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
Both Bhupesh Baghel and T.S. Singh Deo were met the party leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. Mr. Deo demanded for CM post as promised him by the party when party came to power in 2018.
Infighting is simmering within in Chhattisgarh congress unit. Mr. Deo and his supporters are demanding for change of leadership in the state. He has claimed that party has promised him a CM post after Mr. Baghel completes half term. If party is not made him Chief Minister as it promised to him two and half year back, he will be contemplating to quit the ministry even Congress party, sources said.
However, Mr. Deo will not keep quiet if the party failed to appoint him as CM; he will definitely take a call sooner or later, sources added.

Mr Baghel, asked whether Mr. Deo would be present during his meeting with Rahul Gandhi, said, "I have information of meeting with Rahul ji only.", he said.
After winning the Chhattisgarh election in 2018, Congress faced tough negotiations with chief ministerial contenders, including Mr. Deo and Tamradhwaj Sahu.
Congress had agreed to the formula of power-sharing between Mr. Baghel and Mr. Deo when the party came to power in 2018. Every time Mr. Baghel has been asked about such a formula, he has said he would readily step down if the party leadership asks him to.
