SC grants protection from arrest to Nitesh Rane in attempt to murder case
Bombay High Court on January 17 refused anticipatory bail to Rane in the case. The court allowed anticipatory bail of another co-accused Manish Dalvi.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted 10 days protection from arrest to Maharashtra BJP MLA Nitesh Rane in an attempt to murder case lodged in Sindhudurg district last month.
The apex court directed Nitesh Rane to surrender before the trial court and seek regular bail.
Bombay High Court on January 17 refused anticipatory bail to Rane in the case. The court allowed anticipatory bail of another co-accused Manish Dalvi.
Nitesh Rane had moved the Bombay High Court after a Sindhudurg special judge on December 30, 2021, rejected the anticipatory bail plea. In his plea, Rane claimed he had been booked “out of political rivalry”.
Nitish Rane, son of Union Minister Narayan Rane, is accused of being the main conspirator behind an attempt to murder on December 18 in the Kankavli region of Maharashtra.
