Taliban attack TOLOnews reporter, cameraman
Kabul: A journalist and a cameraman of Afghanistan's first independent news channel were beaten at gunpoint by the Taliban in Kabul's New City on Wednesday.
TOLOnews reported that Yaad and his cameraman Baes Majidi were filming footage of jobless people and labourers in Haji Yaqoob square in the Shahr-e-Naw area of Kabul city on Wednesday morning when the Taliban beat them. The reason is unclear.
Earlier, TOLO news reported that the Taliban killed Ziar Yaad Khan in Kabul. However, Ziar Yaad Khan clarified that the Taliban beat him, not 'killed' as earlier reported.
Ziar Yaad Khan tweeted, "I was beaten by the Taliban in Kabul's New City while reporting. Cameras, technical equipment and my personal mobile phone have also been hijacked. Some people have spread the news of my death which is false.The The Taliban got out of an armored Land Cruiser and hit me at gunpoint".
Ziar Yaad Khan doesn't know the reason for the attack. He has brought the issue to the notice of the Taliban leadership.
The news channel reported that Taliban are making a "serious" investigation into the incident.
