Telangana HC dismisses PIL against release of movie SS Rajamouli's RRR

Hyderabad:  Telangana High Court dismissed PIL against the release of movie SS Rajamouli's 'RRR'. A Bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili disposed of the PIL.

The petitioner contended that freedom fighter Alluri Seeta Rama Raju's image in the movie was tarnished by the moviemakers. In the movie, Alluri Seeta Rama Raju, the role played by Ram Charan, is seen shown as an employee of the British Government. The plea sought a direction to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to not issue a censor certificate, according to Bar and Bench.

CBFC filed a counter-affidavit stating that the film in question was a work of fiction and thus certain cinematic liberties were permitted.

The movie, which was initially scheduled to be released on January 7, 2022, was pushed to March 25 due to the spike in the third wave of COVID-19.

The actors of the movie, Ram Charan Teja, NTR Junior, and the movie director, SS Rajamouli, held a press conference to share information related to the movie. The director claimed that the movie would be a bigger hit than Baahubali 1 and Baahubali 2, which were the director’s biggest hit movies to date. The movie is produced by D.V.V. Entertainments.
