Telugu Talons unveil new jersey for PHL
Hyderabad: Telugu Talons have launched their new jersey for the upcoming inaugural edition of the Premier Handball League (PHL) at the Indoor Stadium, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad on Monday.
Principal secretary of industry, commerce, and information technology Jayesh Ranjan and vice chancellor of JNTUH Prof. K. Narasimha Reddy unveiled the jersey and named Shubham Sheoran as the captain.
Telugu Talons will represent Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh in the PHL which is scheduled to be held from June 8 to 25. They will take on Garvit Gujarat in their opener on June 8.
Telugu Talons owner Abhishek Reddy said, "We are excited to unveil our team jersey and to announce the team captain for the season. Telugu Talons is representing Telugu people globally in the inaugural season of PHL. We are confident that we will have a great season ahead and enthral the handball lovers in the Telugu-speaking states. We are thankful for Jayesh Ranjan and Prof. K. Narasimha Reddy for their support towards the team. We are also grateful to the Telangana state government who has always extended their support to us and the sports fraternity in Hyderabad."
He also announced the key sponsors of their team.
Speaking on the occasion, coach Fernando Nues said, "Shubham comes with vast experience in the sport and is a very good communicator. We thought he can be the voice for all the players and he is the one who can carry the coach's messages to the players in the right way. We hope to see him lead the team on par with the expectations."
An exhibition match was also conducted to showcase the talent of Telugu Talons.
