Thackeray- Fadnavis meets each other in flood-affected Konkan region

Mumbai: Two political rivals, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and opposition leader, Devendra Fadnavis met each other at Kolhapur city while both visiting floods affected Konkan region. 

However, both leaders have discussed the impact of floods and relief works taken by the Maharashtra government. 

Chief Minister said he knew about Fadnavis visit to flood-affected districts and asked him to wait there. 

The chief minister said that “we are working to help the people who are in distress and there is no politics on it. There are three party running the government. Mr. Fadnavis representing the fourth party. We will hold all party meeting at Mumbai to discuss damages caused by floods. I will invite Mr. Fadnavi for that meeting”, Mr. Thackeray said. 

Later, Mr. Fadnavis told reporters that he had discussed with the Chief Minister regarding long term plan for flood relief works. "I discussed the situation with the Chief Minister. He said we have to think of a long-term plan. We have suggested the Chief Minister to take up immediate relief for the people of this area," Mr. Fadnavis said. 

Chief Minister was accompanied by ministers and Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte. Mr Fadnavis came with BJP leaders and Opposition leader in the Upper house, Pravin Darekar.

The Chief Minister has visited the places affected by landslides and floods affected places in the Konkan region. Mr. Fadnavis also visited the same places. However, their visit to both places at different timings. Today, both the leaders were touring Kolhapur in western Maharashtra, and they were at the same spot at the same time and met each other. 

The leaders were surrounded by locals and party workers as they spoke to each other for a few minutes.

Two leaders are at loggerheads ever since the Shiv Sena joins hands with its former rival Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress, formed a government and keep the BJP out of power, after the BJP went back on its promise of sharing the chief ministership to Shiva Sena.
