Tokyo Paralympics 2020: Bhavina Patel scripts history, bags Silver in Table Tennis finals
Tokyo: Indian Para table tennis player Bhavina Patel brought home a Silver medal in the Table Tennis finals at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
Bhavina lost to China's Zhou Ying in Women's Single's class 4 final. Bhavina is the first Indian to enter the final of a table tennis event in the Paralympics. Bhavina Patel lost in straight sets against world No. 1 Ying Zhou of China 7-11, 5-11.
She dedicated this Silver medal to country and thanked her coach, family members and friends for their constant support.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has congratulated Bhavina Patel on winning a Silver medal in Table Tennis at the Paralympics Games in Tokyo. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said; "The remarkable Bhavina Patel has scripted history! She brings home a historic Silver medal. Congratulations to her for it. Her life journey is motivating and will also draw more youngsters towards sports. Paralympics"
Deepa Malik, President of Paralympic Committee of India, said " I am very happy that today on National Sports Day Bhavina Patel has won a silver medal for India. I am proud of her. We want all our athletes to do their best. I am looking forward to another good news today".
