Kidambi Srikanth clinches Silver in World Championships 2021, PM Modi congratulates
Kidambi Srikanth lost 15-21, 20-22 to Singapore's Loh Kean Yew in the men's singles final of the BWF World Championships on Sunday.
New Delhi: Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth scripted history to become the first male shuttler to clinch a Silver medal at the World Championships 2021 held in Spain. The tournament took place from 12 to 19 December 2021 at Palacio de los Deportes Carolina Marín in Huelva, Spain.
Kidambi Srikanth lost 15-21, 20-22 to Singapore's Loh Kean Yew in the men's singles final of the BWF World Championships on Sunday. No one from India has won the title so far. Previous best results by Indian men being a bronze medal -- Prakash Padukone (1983), HS Prannoy (2019), and Lakshya Sen (2021).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Kidambi Srikanth for winning a Silver Medal at World Championships 2021 in Badminton. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said; "Congratulations to @srikidambi for winning a historic Silver Medal. This win will inspire several sportspersons and further interest in badminton."
