PM Modi praises All England Open Championship runner-up Lakshya Sen
New Delhi: Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen lost against World No 1 Viktor Axelsen in the All England Open Championship finals. Lakshya lost against Viktor Axelsen 10-21, 15-21.
Lakshya is the 5th Indian shuttler to reach the finals of the All England Open Championship.
Earlier, Sen had defeated world No 7 Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia 21-13, 12-21, 21-19 in the semi-final on Saturday to become the first Indian since Pullela Gopichand's famous victory in 2001 to contest in the men's singles final of the prestigious BWF Super 1000 event.
“It feels phenomenal,” said Viktor Axelsen. “At the Denmark Open, I really realised how much it meant to me seeing her in the stands after my win.
“Today was something extra special. She is running around in her YONEX skirt and she can understand that her Dad is running around on the court.
Viktor won back his YONEX All England Men's Singles title in style today.
