Tokyo Paralympics 2020: Mariyappan wins Silver, Sharad Kumar bags Bronze in high jump finals
Tokyo: Mariyappan Thangavelu (Sport Class T42) won Silver, and Sharad Kumar (Sport Class T42) takes Bronze in the High Jump final event on Tuesday.
Mariyappan represented India in the 2016 Summer Paralympic games held in Rio de Janeiro in the men's high jump T-42 category, winning the gold medal in the finals. Mariyappan added a second Paralympic medal to his kitty.
Sharad Kumar bagged the Bronze in his debut.
PM Narendra Modi said, ""Soaring higher and higher! Mariyappan Thangavelu is synonymous with consistence and excellence. Congratulations to him for winning the Silver Medal. India is proud of his feat."
