Tokyo Paralympics 2020: Nishad Kumar wins Silver in High Jump, Vinod Kumar bags Bronze in discuss throw
Tokyo: Nishad Kumar won the silver medal with a best effort of 2.06m in the Men's High Jump T47 event on Sunday. Nishad registered his Personal Best and created an Asian Record today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nishad Kumar on a stunning victory. In a tweet, he said, "More joyful news comes from Tokyo! Absolutely delighted that Nishad Kumar wins the Silver medal in Men’s High Jump T47. He is a remarkable athlete with outstanding skills and tenacity. Congratulations to him."

Deepa Malik, President Paralympic Committee of India, congratulated Nishad Kumar. She said, " Stunning performance from Nishad, silver again for India Today high jump T47 . Created a new Asian record, recovered from covid and in just three years became a medal-winning Paralympian."
In another track and field event, Vinod Kumar won the Bronze medal in the Discus Throw F-52 final event setting a new Asian record with a throw of 19.91m.
