New Delhi: Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall very likely to continue over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand with isolated heavy falls till 16th, increasing to isolated heavy to very heavy falls over these regions during 17th & 18th July, according to India Meteorological Department report.

The axis of Monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Rajkot, Dahanu, Aurangabad, Ramgundam, Kalingapatnam and thence east-southeastwards to East-central Bay of Bengal. It extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level. The east-west shear zone roughly passes along Lat. 19°N across central India between 2.1 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height.

As per Numerical Weather Prediction Models forecasts, the monsoon trough is likely to shift northwards and weaken the east-west convergence zone from 16 July. Under the influence of these meteorological conditions.

♦ Isolated to scattered rainfall over plains of Northwest India till 16 July. Increased rainfall activity over these areas from 17 July with widespread rainfall is likely over Haryana, Punjab, north Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh and south Uttar Pradesh during 17th-19th with peak activity on 18 July.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over north Rajasthan, Haryana, northwest Madhya Pradesh and west Uttar Pradesh from 17th to 19 July. Isolated heavy rainfall is also very likely over Punjab, Delhi and east Uttar Pradesh during the same period.

♦ Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls likely over northeast India till 16 July, increasing rainfall during 17th -19th July. Isolated very heavy rainfall likely over the region during 17-19 July.

♦ Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall also likely over Telangana and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 16 July 2021. Decrease in rainfall activity over the west coast and peninsular India from 16 July onwards till 18 July 2021
